Welcome

FortHoodPro.com is a real estate and community information resource for homes and land for sale in the Greater Fort Hood Area. We have concentrated on 6 cities that make up the communities of Fort Hood Texas which are Killeen, Copperas Cove, Harker Heights, Nolanville, Kempner and Lampasas. Here are brief histories of each community. There is much more available in the menu on the left.

Copperas Cove is located in Central Texas at the southern corner of Coryell County, with city limits extending into neighboring Bell and Lampasas Counties. Founded in 1879 as a small ranching and farming community, today the city is the largest in Coryell County, with more than 30,000 residents. The town's economy is closely linked to nearby Fort Hood, making it part of the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Residents often refer to the city simply as "The Cove." Copperas Cove has a suburban cityscape typical among American small towns developed in the postwar era. The majority of commercial activity occurs along the main thoroughfare, US Highway 190. Since most of Copperas Cove has been built after 1950, the extent of the town's walkable, historic downtown is considerably smaller than nearby, less-populated communities, such as Lampasas or Gatesville.

Living In Killeen Texas

Killeen is a city in Bell County, Texas. The population was 86,911 at the 2000 census. As of 2009, Killeen had 119,510 people. In 2010 Killeen's population shot to 127,921. It is a "principal city" of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Area. Killeen is directly adjacent to the main base of Fort Hood, and as such its economy heavily depends on the post and the soldiers (and their families) stationed here.

Living In Harker Heights Texas

Harker Heights is located near Fort Hood, a United States Army base that was designated a permanent military facility in 1950. As the base grew, the nearby town of Killeen also grew. Water Control and Improvement District No. 4 was established on land near the Killeen city limits and the military base in 1955, and included the land owned by Pinckney R. Cox and Harley Kern. These two men subdivided their land in 1957 and began selling lots. By 1960, between 600 and 700 of the lots had been developed and new residents supplied with water and other utility services.

Living In Nolanville Texas

Nolanville reached its peak as a town between 1890 and 1900 when it went into a holding pattern. A weekly newspaper, the Item, was started by 1896. The first telephone service in Nolanville was started, using barbed wire for lines. There were two lines, a south and a north, with Nolan Creek serving as the dividing line. Nolanville School, one of the larger rural schools in the county in the early twentieth century, had ninety pupils in 1903. The first automobile appeared between 1900 and 1910. It was the automobile that caused Nolanville businesses to decline because it made the trip to Belton or Killeen so much shorter.

In 1882 the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway was built through the area, two miles from the Taylor store, and the community's center finally became fixed when the post office was moved to a frame building near the railroad tracks and renamed Kempner after Harris Kempner, a Galveston merchant and director of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe. The first postmaster at the new location was Johnnie Chance. The coming of the railroad caused the population to double. The first rock store in town was erected by Jo Brown.

Living In Lampasas Texas

For his services in the Texas Revolution, John Burleson received 1,280 acres of land and established a permanent settlement in the 1850s. The city was first named Burleson; however, the name was gradually changed to Lampasas Springs because of the existence of seven mineral springs. When the county was created in 1856, the law specified “The county seat shall be same name as the county.” The city of Lampasas was officially incorporated in 1883. Lampasas has mineral springs which once claimed to cure "everything."

Testimonials

Jesse was very professional and had great interpersonal skills. When we were worried about selling the house he was calm and explained things, which in turn made us calm, especially in the market at this time. Jesse went above and beyond to help us sell our house. When we had to move out of the area, halfway across the country, he would update us with pictures of the house and even mowed the lawn for us before he found a new landscaper for us. We would recommend Jesse to anyone. He is what a true Texan is all about...friendly, neighborly and easy going...plus a great realator! Thanks Jesse! MAJ Brad M.
"Thanks Jesse. I really appreciate all of your efforts to sell my house. You're a real good guy, Jesse! Thanks Forever... Michelle "

"Jesse, Thanks! Tracy and I may be headed to Germany but we are considering using our home as rental property (what are your thoughts on that?) I asked for the evaluation because I feel it is prudent to know each year what your property is worth. Eventually Tracy and I will build our dream home and if it is anywhere in Central Texas you are our agent or if we ever decide to sell this one you will have our business. We still remember how impressed we were with your representation less than four years ago. I will be in touch. V/R CSM" CSM Rodney H.
"Jesse, I got your note in the mail and I have reviewed the info you left. It was extremely helpful. Over the next few months we're going to be getting the house in order and ready to sell, from the tips in the info. I am right now getting the major plumbing taken care of. I have lots of uncluttering to do. Thanks for your help and Ill give you a call when we are close to being ready. It is definite we want you to sell the house, just need to be sure we can get pretty top dollar for it. Eileen R.
